Well here it is! My first wedding of the year is on the blog today, and I’m so excited to get back into weddings! Don’t get me wrong, having the time in the off season to spend with my little guy is amazing and much needed, but when wedding season is back, I get SO excited to get my creative juices flowing again!
I knew that Ashley and Greg’s wedding would be special when I shot their engagement session last summer. They have a connection like no other, and they have such amazing and supportive people around them. I was blown away on their wedding by all the love showered onto them by their friends and family. Ashley’s dad is a minister and spoke a sweet sermon at their ceremony, Ashley’s brother is a musician and wrote and performed a song for their first dance (which no one had heard yet until the actual dance), and Greg’s best man not only chose to celebrate his birthday on his best friend’s wedding day, but gave a toast that got me teary eyed.
I’m not going to lie though, I was a little nervous when the forecast called for rain on their wedding day. A LOT of rain. Typically, I’m not too phased by this, but considering it was the first wedding of the season and I was trying to get back into the flow of things, it was a little nerve-racking. Especially because you never know how the bride is going to react to rain on her wedding day! But Ashely emailed me a few days before her wedding and told me she got rain boots, a rain coat, an extra dress in case hers got soaked, and her entire wedding party umbrellas, and I immediately was relieved. I love when brides (ok and grooms too :)) embrace rain on their wedding day and make the best of it! You’re only going to wear your dress once, so you might as well get some cute pictures out of it! No one cares if your hair is a little wet and you have rain boots on instead of heels. Sometimes things don’t go quite as planned, and that’s ok! I love Ashley for braving the rain and letting us get just as many portraits as I would have if it hadn’t been raining. You guys rock!!
Ashley and Greg are one of those warm and inviting couples that make you feel like you’ve been friends with them forever. That is such a special quality to have and I know that everyone else who meets them feels the same way. Eric and I are honored to have been fortunate enough to meet them and be a part of their wedding day. We hope you are having a blast in Hawaii! Hopefully you can take some time to enjoy some previews to your wedding day!!!
I LOVE this picture. Ashley’s parents kissing right when Ashley and Greg do make this photo so sweet and special <3
I love how Ashley embraced the rain on her wedding day and wore the cutest raincoat and rainbows! Adorable!
